As I have driven for UBER for almost 2 years now; I have found that there are certain items that any UBER driver would need in order to run their UBER business effectively.  Things to keep your vehicle in tip top shape. I am going to provide links here to videos and items of things in my two years that I would like to suggest to you.  Hopefully you will find value in my suggestions and comment after possibly trying them yourself. • Car Vacuum Cleaner: The very first thing your clientele will be looking at in your vehicle is it’s cleanliness.  How clean are your rugs?  Floor mats?  Within reason; there are the times where you will have to vacuum quickly before heading to your next run.  This Black and Decker 12V will do the job. • Car Charger: One needs a Car Charger to run our type of business.  Click here for a dual charger that allows for your phone and one line for your passenger to charge theirs on longer runs or for that quick charge when their battery is low.

• Cell Phone Holder:  The ‘Bracketron’ is an item I recommend because its sleek build with a smooth and secure clamping function for the phone itself.  Whether you have it horizontal or vertical this cell phone holder works for you.  Click here for more information.

• Bungee Cords: You say Bungee cords? What for? Bungee cords can help in your trunk area to provide for space if needed.  I highly recommend them.  This style of bungee cord linked is perfect for your standard sized trunk (if you have one.)  It’s perfect, as it has plastic clamps as opposed to metal.  I have found that placing a bungee cord in my trunk allows for me to place a roll of paper towels using the bungee cord stretched across the trunk as a holder.  (See picture.) Other ideas for using the bungee cords will allow for you to cluster or wrap other items together in your truck if it isn’t completely empty for UBER riders.  Click here for Bungee cord description.

• LED Flashlight: Clients often misplace cellphones and other items.  Having a LED flashlight for early morning or late night viewing can help decrease any lost items.  Click here for LED Flashlights.

• Air Freshener:  Every driver should be aware that scents could make or break your 5 star rating. Many of my clients have complained about the smells from a previous UBER drivers vehicle, and that is a deal breaker for most.  There are 2 Febreeze fragrances that I have received the most positive comments about. 

     1. The Bora Bora Scent…A mixture of fruity and flowery, very nice scent.  Plus Bora Bora is on my bucket list for destinations 🙂

• Glass cleaner:  Clientele, when they enter your vehicle get a sense of who you are and make a judgement call on how this ride is going to be.  If the appearance is that you don’t care, dirty vehicle, dirty windows etc. your 5 star rating could be in jeopardy.  Look, I get it – after 25 to thirty rides coupled with just getting past a rain or snow storm in your area (if you get snow 🙂 ) Its difficult to keep the windows spotless, however I would strongly advise doing your very best.  Turtle Wax has a new product called Spray and Wipe Glass Cleaner.  It’s an interesting product, where the cleaning wipes are on the top and the actual cleaning solution, which has a Caribbean scent, I might add,  is on the bottom – a two in one.  What I like is the product is good, even in direct sunlight – and for me that works perfectly in between runs just to keep things clean.  Click here for the Turtle Wax Spray and Wipe Glass Cleaner.

• Glass Squeegee:  A good partner for follow up is a good squeegee.  This product allows you to quickly clean your windows in the event of a quick rainfall.  Sometimes the water buildup can leave window stains, so a good squeegee allows you to clean up so you can get to driving, where time is of the essence.  Click here for a Glass Squeegee.

• Lint Rollers:  Keeping cloth seats clean can only be accomplished with a solid lint roller.  This Scotch-Brite Lint Roller will do the job you need.  Click here for more information.

• Vomit bags: Unfortunately, in our line of work we can transport clients who may get sick in your vehicle.  While UBER does pay for the cleaning if any bodily fluids should make contact in your vehicle; you can be prepared with bags to avoid this altogether.  Click here for vomit bags.

• Microfiber Cloths: Dust can accumulate in your vehicle, having a microfiber cloth can help keep things nice and tidy in between runs.  Whats good about microfiber is that it is good on glass and many surfaces with no abrasiveness, keeping everything nice and clean.  Click here for microfiber cloths.

• Latex Gloves: In any cleaning, gloves are essential – need I say more?  Click here for gloves.

• Auxiliary Cord:  You may have clientele who may be interested in playing their music through your system in your car while you transport.  If you elect to do this 5 star rating holder, having an Aux cord is essential as well.  Click here for an Aux Cord.

• Umbrella: Having an extra large umbrella for your clients can help preserve a 5 Star Rating.  Click here for umbrella.

• Pens and notepads:  having the ability to write down information for clients, or for them to be able to jot something important down is  prudent as you anticipate their need to note something.  They will remember you in the long run by solving a problem.

• Music:  Often I get asked what type of music I play when i’m transporting my clientele.  While I know that music choice is subjective – I lean towards a Soulish Jazz – Boney James is one of my favorites.
